Some hardy souls braved the weather yesterday for the Auckland Rose Society Pruning Demonstration held at the Parnell Rose Gardens. A great turnout given the weather! Hopefully everyone found it an informative day.

Our next meeting on Saturday 27th of May is a great one if you have an interest in some of the older roses here in New Zealand. Our guest speaker is Delphine Lomas a long time member of Heritage Roses, Auckland. Heritage roses are often steeped in history and hold a very romantic appearance. Make sure you also get to visit the Nancy Steen garden at the Parnell Rose Gardens. Delphine has a wealth of knowledge on old roses, so don’t be afraid to come along and ask plenty of questions!
Our guest speaker is Jan Barnett from Amore Roses. It will be exciting to find out about the new roses that they are bringing in to NZ. It really is fantastic to see new businesses entering the Rose Nursery market!

A great modern Hybrid Tea is a yellow rose called Glorious. Ranked third favourite Hybrid Tea in New Zealand by Rose Society members in 2016 as well as ranking 6th in terms of health it puts on a stunning display in the garden. It’s one that is well known on the show benches around the country as well!
